The company is located in the Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao Industrial Zone, covering a land area of 100,000 square meters. The facility consists of production and office areas of totally 72,000 square meters. ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is one of ABB’s key local enterprises, and a major manufacturing/engineering base for industrial robots and systems (Discrete Automation and Motion), instrumentation (Process Automation), substation automation systems (Power Systems), and analytical systems (Process Automation). ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is one of the ABB local companies ranked among China’s top 100 electric enterprises in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Discrete Automation and Motion
ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is home to ABB’s global robotics headquarters. ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. features advanced robot production lines, and deliver complete solutions for the automotive and tier 1 industry, as well as general industry. For the automotive industry, we have lead centers covering Body-In-White, Power Train, Press Automation and Paint Application. Tier 1 is delivering complete systems for arc- and spot welding.
General industry deliver systems for trim and final assembly, process applications, arc welding, material handling, machine tending, packing, palletizing and other applications. In addition to sales, engineering and production, Robotics in Shanghai has a well sized R&D activity.
Process automation
ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is a global instrumentation manufacturer, supplying flow measurement equipment, pressure measurement equipment and other products to Chinese and global markets.
ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. engineers turnkey projects for oil & gas, chemical industry and other processing industries. One of the main activities within ABB Engineering Ltd. is complete analytical systems, including houses. The Analyzer House is a shed containing a range of analytical instrumentation and supporting electric equipment. It can work under extreme conditions and monitor the gas and liquid flow in industrial production and measure their environmental impact. ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. also provides the new concept packaged systems of automation house and electrical house which contain and integrate the electrical and DCS panels & equipments.
Power Systems
ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is one of ABB’s key suppliers of power systems in China. The company provides customers with products for line differential protection, transformer protection, busbar protection and and other protection relays. The system workshop provides system integration solutions for all kinds of protections products and substation automation, such as generator and transformer protection panel, busbar protection panel and fast load shedding systems. In 2006, the company imported a production line for HV relay protection and control devices, making it one of the few facilities worldwide to possess such equipment, following enterprises in Sweden, the US and India.
ABB Engineering (Shanghai) Ltd. is also a professional manufacturer of network management and utility communications, mainly producing Large SCADA systems, power line carrier communication and optical fiber communication systems equipment, providing services in the fields of power generation, transmission and distribution, and oil and natural gas.
