Door entry system named among the “Most Fashionable Household Products 2011”
ABB’s advanced intelligent building control systems win prestigious fashion awards for three consecutive years
Beijing, August 22, 2011 –ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, received the “Most Fashionable Household Products of 2011” award for Welcome 8 door entry system, a star of its intelligent building product family. The 2011 award marks the third time that Trends Home Magazine has tabbed an ABB product to win this prestigious honor after ABB’s EWA (Electrical Wiring Accessories) Uni-art series and the priOn series intelligent building control solution received the same prize in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
Kin Kwan Lam, Vice President of Low Voltage Products Division, ABB China, said, “Winning this top design award for three consecutive years proves the high recognition of our intelligent building solutions from the industry and customers. Leveraging our technology leadership in the electrical and automation fields, ABB delivers a full range of intelligent building solutions to help our customers build smart, green, and secure communities so as to increase the quality of life.”
The door entry system is mainly composed of indoor station installed at home, outdoor station installed at the lobby door, and guard unit installed in the facility management room. All these devices are interconnected via a private network. Co-developed by the ABB R&D teams in China and Germany, ABB Welcome 8 series was introduced to the Chinese market in 2010. It combines leading technology with superior production techniques to well address the demands of local application environments and user habits.
ABB Welcome 8 series is available in 7” and 10” TFT indoor station configurations. Its outdoor stations are made with stainless steel and sophisticated coating steel. Both of these can adapt to a variety of home designs and decoration styles. The door entry system features an ergonomic design that combines push buttons and a graphic user interface, allowing easy monitoring, capture, and alarm through simple touch-screen operations and providing 24/7 home security. Furthermore, the system connects via Cat.5 cables for simultaneous transfer of video, audio, data, and power, cutting the wiring cost by 60% and installation costs by 50%, helping real estate industry customers build smart communities.
ABB Welcome 8 series can be seamlessly integrated into ABB’s i-bus® intelligent building control system. Users can activate automatic controls of lighting, HVAC, audio/video, sunblind, and door entry at a simple touch of the Comfort Touch screen. As the leader in intelligent building solutions, the ABB i-bus® Intelligent Building Control System is the world’s first to meet the requirements of the international ISO/IEC14543-3 standard, the European EN50090 standard, and China’s national GB/Z20965 standard.
As a technology and application trendsetter of smart home and building automation, ABB has over 100 years of experience in producing switches, sockets, and electronic control products, with a proven track record for designing creative and user-friendly products. For its simple and intuitive functionality, the ABB priOn series won the “Red Dot Design Award 2008”, the world’s top design award since 1955.
