ABB’s package substation service is designed to provide the perfect solution for utilities, DNOs or industrial customers who need a distribution substation either for new connections or upgrade projects.
Instead of customers having to worry about the specification, ordering and installation of the individual transformers and switchgear that make up a distribution substation, ABB can simply take their technical specifications and provide a complete package substation. This comes with the added benefit that the package is supplied fully factory assembled and tested, and ready to deliver and install on site. The service is especially suited to customers who need large numbers of similar substations to be delivered on an as-needed basis.
A typical ABB outdoor package substation for a utility customer will comprise an 11kV/433V distribution transformer, together with a ring main switchgear unit and fuse cabinet.
ABB unit substation transformers (shown left) are designed specifically for close coupling to switchgear, motor control, bus duct or other types of incoming and outgoing equipment. ABB’s proven design offers excellent mechanical strength proven through both exhaustive tests and years of service.
