ABB launches global production site for LV synchronous generators in Nanchang

Facility combines world leading technology and local production to help customers improve energy efficiency

Nanchang, China, November 7, 2008 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, today officially announced the factory opening of ABB Tellhow Generators Ltd. in Nanchang, China. As a global production site for ABB’s low voltage synchronous generators, the new facility will design, develop and produce advanced low voltage synchronous generators with ABB’s world leading technology. These vanguard generators accentuate reliability and power efficiency and will help customers improve energy efficiency in order to address the increasing energy challenge.

ABB Tellhow Generators Ltd. is a joint venture of ABB China Ltd. and Tellhow Sci-Tech Co. Ltd. The new facility is located at the Nanchang National High and New Technology Industry Development Zone, boasting a factory floor space of 10,000 square meters with an additional 2,600 square meters for offices. After its launch, the factory will produce over 6,000 units annually. The site meets ABB’s global standards for corporate social responsibility and fully employs advanced energy-saving technology and a professional waste treatment system to ensure environmentally friendly production.

The company will closely cooperate with ABB’s R&D team in Finland to introduce its world leading technology to China so as to deliver customized highly efficient low voltage synchronous generators.
