ABB powers Protection, Connection & Wiring products in high/mid-end markets

Promotes both the traditional sales mode and new marketing channel

Shanghai, March 7, 2013 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced that the 2013 Thomas & Betts Products Launch was held in Shanghai yesterday in an effort to energetically promote the expansion of Thomas & Betts products in China and further to consolidate its leading position in the high/mid-end markets for electric and industrial connection. This is the official China debut of Thomas & Betts Products as ABB’s Local Business Unit - Protection, Connection & Wiring. In May 2012, ABB acquired Thomas & Betts, the leader in the North American LV product market.

The original Thomas & Betts offered a wide range of products including 200,000 types of electric components and systems used for termination, connection, fixing, protection and identification of wires, components and conduits. Thomas & Betts and ABB’s existing protection, control and measuring products complement each other and will definitely enrich ABB’s low voltage product portfolio and consolidate ABB’s leadership in the electrical industry.

Through its huge sales network covering 300 cities in China and the proven distribution channels of its Low Voltage Products Division, ABB will energetically promote the sale of its connection and wiring products, benefiting domestic users with a greater variety of products and better value return so as to achieve continuous growth in the business.

Meanwhile, ABB’s official flagship store on Alibaba’s Imall (http://cnabblp.cn.alibaba.com/) also launched several series of connection and wiring products and solutions on Mar. 6, providing efficient service to local customers via the leading e-commerce platform. Imall is the world's first industrial product sourcing platform established by Alibaba Group in 2012. It gathers around 1,000 outstanding manufacturers and authorized resellers offering more than 100,000 products from 800 popular brands in 12 major categories. Imall is dedicated to provide its customers with one-stop online sourcing experience.

Connection and wiring products are extensively used in renewable energy, oil and gas, petroleum and chemistry, ocean engineering, building construction, power transmission and distribution, telecommunication and CATV system, PDS, lightning protection and grounding system, OEM, railway transportation, and aerospace . So far, they have been deployed in numerous key projects including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, Disneyland in the USA, the Taipei 101 Building, and the Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station.
