UK Comes out top for Sentinel

The start of the year saw the global launch of ABB’s Sentinel software management service designed to help companies actively extend the lifecycle of their ABB automation systems. Just ten months on, the UK ‘Evolution’ team picked up the award for ‘Most Sentinel Contracts sold since launch’ at ABB’s annual control systems conference in Milan. The award was presented to Andrew Glover, Evolution Manager for the UK by Veli Matti Reinikkala, Head of Process Automation, Global.

Automation Sentinel is a key part of ABB’s ‘Evolution For Life’ Program and keeps existing control systems updated with the latest software technology as well as providing an affordable evolution path to ABB’s next generation control system, Extended Automation (System 800xA).

The UK have been the most proactive in selling Sentinel contracts and have been focussing on the Chemical and Pharmaceutical, Utilities, Pulp and Paper and Oil and Gas industries.

The team involved in the UK includes Denis Harding, Andrew Glover, Brian Yates, Ernie Sidebottom and Tony Burgess.

Andrew Glover commented: “This is great recognition for the Evolution team and we want to continue this success into 2008. Our goal is to help companies improve their operational performance whilst retaining as much as possible from their existing investment.”
