2010-01-14 - We are glad to offer our FT-1 customers the RoHS certification at no additional cost and without affecting delivery times or product performance.
As a result of our commitment to ABB's Prohibited and Restricted Substances policy, starting in April 2010, all FT-1 switches will fully meet the environmental requirements for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). The RoHS certification restricts the use of six hazardous materials - Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphyenyl Ethers (PBDE) - in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.
This certification has been in place among European Union countries since 2004 and is rapidly expanding to other regions of the world. In the US, California has already adopted a version of the RoHS requirements and several other states have bans on mercury and PBDE. This certification will allow our FT-1 products to continue their position as market leader, while helping the environment. We are glad to offer our FT-1 customers the RoHS certification at no additional cost and without affecting delivery times or product performance.
