ABB Huadian High-Voltage Switchgear (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. has won contracts totaling RMB 85 million ($10.2 million) to supply 110 kV gas-insulated switchgears (GIS) apparatus for six substations in Suzhou, Wuxi and Xuzhou of East China's Jiangsu Province.
Jiangsu Province has seen rapid economic growth over the last 15 years, making it one of the most power thirsty provinces in China. The province has stepped up its efforts in power supply to ease power shortage. With 500 kV grid as its backbone, Jiangsu province possesses one of the largest grids in China. The 220 kV transmission plants cover all the urban and rural areas across the province. Jiangsu Provincial Electric Power Co defines advanced technology, high reliability and good service as the criteria for its procurement of electrical equipment.
"The key to obtaining these contracts is ABB's unparalleled power technologies combined with our ability to offer the best solutions and after-sales service. We stood out in the keen competition by redesigning assembly and testing process, which cuts the delivery cycle time from eight months to four months," said Fulvio Granata, general manager of ABB Huadian High-Voltage Switchgear Co., Ltd. "Such an achievement is also the result of teamwork. We have worked hard as a team to meet the high demands of our customers in products reliability and service."

Mr. Fulvio Granata added that the company will continue its strategy of customer first and express delivery to supply the market with world-class products and service.
In March the company signed an 18.1 million RMB ($ 2.2 million) contract with Qinghai Electric Power Company to supply advanced power technologies for the Qinghai-Tibet railway.
