Beijing, June 6, 2013 -- ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, won three awards at the recent 8th annual "China Automation Industries Events" (CAIE). ABB was awarded in the following categories: "Top 10 Enterprises of 2012," "Most Competitive Innovative Products of 2012" and "10 Excellent Papers of 2012." ABB has been widely recognized by industry experts and customers for its outstanding performance in local innovation and business management.
CAIE, organized by the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA), has been held annually since 2005. The 8th edition began in December 2012. The results were unveiled after four months of online voting by nearly 10,000 netizens and review by experts, industrial associations, and customers.
"Top 10 Enterprises of 2012" commends influential and credible Chinese and foreign-funded enterprises that have exhibited outstanding performance in innovation, growth, localized investment, and business management in China's automation field. Since founding its first joint venture in China in 1992, ABB has persistently offered customers localized whole-value-chain automation services and solutions with the strategy of "In China, for China and the world." In 2012, ABB launched China 2017 Plan as the mid-term blueprint to accelerate ABB China's evolution towards a leading player from "made in China" to "designed in China," and to get closer to the Chinese market and customers. "Most Competitive Innovative Products of 2012" recognizes competitive innovative products that have been newly launched or upgraded in China's automation field. Emax VF variable frequency circuit breaker was newly launched by ABB for the wind power market, specifically for wind power current transformer cabinets of direct-drive/full-power variable-frequency drives. The product has successfully eliminated the unreliability of traditional circuit breakers when frequencies of wind generators are excessively low or high. It stood out as one of the "Most Competitive Innovative Products of 2012."
"10 Excellent Papers of 2012" is awarded to papers that confront key and difficult issues in automation, draw the close attention of domestic and overseas peers, and are academically innovative. Application of AC 800PEC in single stand and 6-high Aluminum CRM, a paper written by an engineer with ABB Process Automation Division stood out from over 100 papers to make the final list. The paper introduces AC 800PEC in depth and demonstrates ABB's prominent advantage in the field of complex industrial control with the automation system of the six-roller aluminum rolling mill production line as an example.
